Edwin Glasgow CBE QC presented the 14-19 Prizes, and cheques for £5000, to Rachel Hawkes of Comberton Village College, and Gill Ramage, Secondary Modern Languages Adviser for Suffolk, at the European Awards for Languages ceremony in London on 16 July 2008. The 2 winners, equally successful, demonstrate two different approaches to curriculum development.
CoPE International is an excellent example a talented teacher using alternative accreditation to design a completely new type of course to appeal to a range of pupils who are mixed in terms of ability, motivation and previous language learning experience.
The Suffolk Hotel Work Related Learning Project is an equally excellent example of a really positive and productive partnership between a Local Authority and its secondary school teachers planning together to develop a new type of course which links languages with a vocational context.

Edwin Glasgow, Chairman of the Mary Glasgow Trust, announces the 2008 winners of the 14-19 Prize.
