Are you doing something new with languages in the 14-19 sector ?
You could be eligible for a £5000 Mary Glasgow 14-19 Curriculum Prize.
The Mary Glasgow Language Trust, in association with the Nuffield Foundation and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, offers annual prizes for curriculum innovation in languages in the 14-19 sector.
In 2010, the Mary Glasgow Language Trust will award prizes of £5000 to a maximum of 4 outstanding projects which lead to a higher take-up of language learning between the ages of 14 and 19, and which could serve as inspiration for other schools and colleges. Normally this means that the programme would take place in Key Stage 4 or Key Stage 5, but in some cases it could start in Year 9 and lead directly into language learning in Year 10.
The Mary Glasgow Language Trust is looking for projects which aim to do something new and different. This could apply to how students learn, what they learn, who they learn from or with, how their learning is timetabled, where they learn or how their work is assessed.
The Trust will be particularly interested in projects which are clearly directed at making learning more engaging and more successful for young people who otherwise would be likely to stop learning a language at 14. They should also have been running long enough to demonstrate sustainability and successful learning.

The Mary Glasgow Language Trust is very pleased to have had its work recognised by the Chartered Institute of Linguists. In 2007, the CIL honoured the Trust with its most prestigious prize, the Threlford Memorial Cup, which is awarded annually to the person or organisation which has done the most to foster the study of languages.
